The drive over yesterday was clear with dry roads the whole way. Quite a difference from the drive to Big Sky the last two years on the same week. Woke up this morning to high overcast and forecast for snow. The snow conditions and coverage is a lot better than the home mountain even though they are basically skiing on the snow from late December/early January just like home. There’s something to be said for colder temps and drier snow. The groomers today we’re….soft. ??? Really didn’t expect that. Off piste, not so good. By 9:30, it started snowing hard. While it impacted visibility somewhat, conditions improved as the day went on. By early afternoon, many of the gladed tree runs were quite nice and due to the ultra low crowd, I had them all to myself. We had a good day oriented ourselves to the mountain as it was our first time here. Had to take advantage of them being added to the Ikon pass. A good 4 inches fell today with clearing tomorrow. Should be a good day. Lot’s of vert today, with an extra run at 3:15 because we missed the turn to our condo and ended up too low. Grilled cheese and tomatoes bisque soup for lunch for LD. Grilled bacon, tomato, and cheese for me. Delicious.
